A burner (7) in particular an oil burner, is supplied with fuel by means of an installation consisting of an oil storage tank (1), a pump (3) a shut-off valve (5) and an atomising nozzle (6). A return flow pipe (9) is fitted between the pump delivery pipe (4) and the storage tank (1). The return pipe is filled with a changeover valve (10). The installation is controlled by a system of signal pulses so that when the change-over valve (10) shuts, the shut-off valve (5) opens, as a consequence of the rise in pressure in the delivery pipe (4).
