A tissue retractor device (10) particularly suitable for the lips or cheeks of a surgical wound and used to allow medical treatment or surgical operations essentially comprises two arms (11, 12) and a retractor adjustment mechanism (15). Said mechanism comprises a flat disc (20) rigidly fixed to an adjusting disc (17) and provided with a helical groove (21) engaged by two follower projections (22, 23) which are rigidly fixed to the two arms (11, 12). Rotation of the adjusting disc (17) allows the opening or closing of the arms (11, 12) to be continuously and accurately adjusted.
