PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation of the printing quality due to required thickening processing at the time of output of an outline font to a laser printer or the like. CONSTITUTION:Before thickening processing, a CPU 12 loads an outline font table and a normal vector table from a hard disk 22 to the work area of a line memory 13. The CPU 12 calculates optimum direction and extent of movement of each control point based on normal vector data extracted from the normal vector table and change direction data of adjacent normal vectors calculated by normal vector data and stores calculated them in a control point attribute table of the main memory 13. In the actual thickening processing, the control point attribute table is referred to subject coordinate data of each control point stored in the outline font table to prescribed operation, thereby obtaining a new control point. |
