The vacuum cleaner (1) has a hinged access lid (4) beneath which is the suction compartment (2) for the dust bag (3). The lid is hinged by means of a pair of pegs (7,8) sliding in slots. Hinged to the access lid is a tray (12) for the vacuum cleaner ancillary components, which tucks up inside the lid in its closed position. The tray has a contoured insert to retain the components. On closing the lid, the tray is slid upwards into the lid by means of the upright (19) bearing on a rib (18) beneath it. ADVANTAGE - Allows neat storage of vacuum cleaner components.
