PURPOSE:To omit the setting job of the threshold value needed for decision of a black picture element included in a window and at the same time to prevent the misdecision caused by the noises when the direction of a subject is decided from its image. CONSTITUTION:A pair of image memories 2 and 3 are provided together with the exclusive OR circuits 9a and 9b, and the area counters 11a and 11b. The memories 2 and 3 store the positive and negative reference images respectively. The circuits 9a and 9b detect the discordant picture elements between an input image and the images stored in both memories 2 and 3. Then the counters 11a and 11b count the discordant picture elements respectively. A CPU 6 decides the direction of a subject based on the count values of both counters 11a and 11b. |
