Optimising chemical usage in flocculation process - for removing residual phosphorus and suspended matter from clarification plant discharge
摘要

Optimisation of the flocculating agent and flocculating aid usage in pptn. of residual phosphrous contents and suspended matter in the discharge from municipal clarification plants is carried out by (a) calculating the phosphorus loading and the solids mass flow from residual phosphorus content and solids concn. measurements; (b) using these two values for controlling dosing of the flocculating agent; (c) mathematically deriving a target value for flocculating agent dosage from the input values of the pptn. stage; (d) comparing the target value with the actual value of the dosage, any difference being used as a correction factor for dosing control. ADVANTAGE - Usage of chemicals (generally a metal salt flocculating agent and a polymeric flocculating aid) is optimised.
