PURPOSE:To continuously monitor partial discharges caused by the deterioration of insulation so as to detect abnormality by providing a partial discharge monitoring device in a rotary electric machine. CONSTITUTION:A detecting electrode 9 is provided in a slot formed in a stator core 2 and the electrode 9 is electrostatically coupled with a stator winding 3 and stator core 2. The electrode 9 is charged by a high-frequency current produced by a partial discharge through the capacitance of the coupling. The electric current is led to the outside from a detecting resistor 12 through an airtight terminal 15. A deterioration discrimination circuit 20 actuates an alarm 21 and abnormality display device 22. In addition, the discharge characteristic is inputted to a computer through an interface 23 and recorded and monitored. Therefore, no expensive coupling capacitor is required and, at the same time, the occurrence of an accident caused by the fault of the coupling capacitor is eliminated. |
