To prepare zinc oxide pigments doped with metal oxides, the oxides, carbonates, hydroxides and/or basic carbonates of zinc are processed with formic acid and/or oxalic acid in an amount which is at least sufficient for the conversion of the said oxides, carbonates, hydroxides and/or basic carbonates to formates or oxalates in the presence of water and of oxides, carbonates, hydroxides, basic carbonates, oxalates or formates of the doping metals to give a paste, and the paste is dried, ground and calcined at temperatures of 700 to 1100 DEG C in an inert gas atmosphere. |
