Method for the production of a subunit vaccine against porcine parvovirus (PPV). The method is comprised of a first step wherein is obtained a recombinant protein VP2 of PPV by using the replication of a recombinant baculovirus wherein the gene corresponing to VP2 has been previously inserted in cells of a permissive host. The protein VP2 obtained in this invention has the capacity of forming empty chimeric capsides with high immunogenicity and can be provided as vaccine formulations for protecting pigs against the infection caused by PPV. Additionally, they can be chemically or genetically engineered in order to incorporate epitopes corresponding to other viral proteins and they can be used in the formulation of polyvalent vaccines. The recombinant baculovirus AcMNPV.pPPVEx8 expresses the VP2 of PPV in conditions making possible the formation of pseudo-viral capsides, and has been deposited at the ECACC. These vaccines find application in the veterinary field.
|
