The linear guide-unit has an elongated U-shaped guide-housing (1) in which is fixed an axially parallel guide-rail (2). A carriage (3) runs along the rail, driven by a drive mechanism. The carriage has a part (5) partly enclosing the guide-rail, and a part (8) containing parts of the drive mechanism; and a connection part (9) for a connection, protruding out of the housing. ADVANTAGE - The linear guide unit has a more rigid, one-piece carriage with increased load capacity.
