Moulding articles with metal inserts - by injection moulding main body, fitting inserts in position, injecting second shot and repeating procedure, all on automatic prodn. line
摘要
Components with metallic inserts are produced in which the main body is made of plastic material with spaces into which the metal members fit tightly. In the process a number of identical holders on an intermittently acting conveyor system are the lower tools of an injection mould. The basic body is made in this tool. The holder plus this body is carried to a station where at least one prefabricated metal part is placed and held in the space(s) on the body. The assembly then forms the lower part of a second injection mould, the upper being at a second station which is reached by the holder in its next move. A polymer shot is injected to at least partly cover the metal parts and to bond to the main body. The laminated prod is finally taken off the holder and moved to a collecting point. ADVANTAGE - The method uses simple appts. It produces high grade articles, particularly in respect of the precise positioning of their component parts, their compactness and gas-tightness.
