The connector has a clamp housing (22) containing a series of adjacent clamp poles (24, 26, 28, 30), each associated with a plug-in connector comprising cooperating pin and socket contacts providing the electrical connection between the clamp pole (24, 26, 28, 30) and the circuit board (10). The socket contacts (16) lie adjacent one another within a socket housing (12) which is snap-fitted to the circuit board (10). The socket contacts (16) have respective solder tags (18) fitting into the circuit board (10). The pin contacts (36) are coupled to the respective clamp poles (24, 26, 28, 30) within the clamp housing (22) and extend parallel to the plane of the circuit board (10).
