The discharge path is formed between a pair of electrodes (A, B) extending parallel to each other between preionisation spark rail gaps (VFS1, VFS2), five in number along each side of the 14 cm long assembly. Cu-W sparking electrodes (SP) along one side are decoupled by 1 nF storage capacitors (C1), and those along the other side by 0.2 nF peaking capacitors (C2). The upper electrode (A) is isolated from earth by a triggerable switch (THSS). ADVANTAGE - Energy from storage capacitors is redistributed to feed broad homogeneous discharge during shortest possible pulse, increasing specific peak power and efficiency.
