PURPOSE: To accurately inspect whether or not there is a cavity in a tooth of a sleeve and its position by sending an ultrasonic wave to the sleeve which moves and detecting the cavity. CONSTITUTION: While an ultrasonic wave transmission and reception member 15 is moved spirally about the axis of the sleeve 2 by moving the sleeve 2 at right angles to its length and moving the member 15 in parallel to the axis of the sleeve 2, it is made to operate on the sleeve 2 at a read point X. In this case, a transmission part 15a sends the proper ultrasonic wave signal to a reception part 15b through the sleeve 2 and the part 15b detects the signal and sends a relative electric signal. When the sleeve 2 is structurally continuous, the ultrasonic wave easily passes through the sleeve 2 and can be detected by the part 15b. If, however, there is a structural cavity 3a in the sleeve, the travel of the ultrasonic wave is impeded and the detection signal of the part 15b is attenuated. A processing unit input and processes this signal to identify whether or not there is the cavity 3a and its position and also stores the cavity 3a identified during a test and its position data. |
