The apparatus controls duplicated switching function by time slot units so that a private branch exchange is operated regardless of faults in one plane. The apparatus comprises a first plane (100) having a reception highway interface module (110) for receiving PCM data of a space sharing switch, a space matrix module (120) for transmitting the input PCM data to output highway designated by control data and an interface module (130) for sending PCM data and channel occupying instruction bit to the space matrix module (120), a second plane (200) having a structure the same as the first plane, and a control data storing unit (300) for controlling the first and the second plane.
