摘要 PURPOSE: To precisely and automatically select a small object with simple constitution by obtaining a high-resolution silhouette of the object on a conveyor in real time by using the camera sensor which has a linear array of charged- coupled device(CCD) units. CONSTITUTION: The camera sensor 22 consists of the linear array of CCD units; and the total number of pixels is about 2,000, an intermediate period of continuous scanning is about 300 microseconds, and resolution is about <=0.0025 in. Objects 12, 14, and 16 are placed on the surface 18 of the conveyor which rotates counterclockwise, and a tilted center plate has the bodies mounted at isolation positions on its surface 18. The objects 12, 14, and 16 pass between the sensor 22 and a light source 24 and reach a detector 28 and a converter 28, which changes the direction of an article in a wrong direction or of improper size or discards it. The CCD units of the sensor 22 are at right angles to the moving direction of the objects and send analog signals of the size of the object being carried on receiving the timing signal from a timer synchronizing circuit, converts it into a digital signal, and then simplifies it into four count values, thereby deciding whether or not the size is proper.
