PURPOSE:To obtain a sensor element wherein the volume of a gas diffusing chamber which is indispensable as an oxygen sensor is large (having the height of several tens of mum or higher). CONSTITUTION:A baked layer 8a of crystallized glass is formed on at least either of the outer surface part of an element 1 comprising ion conducting solid electrolyte on the forming side of one electrode 2a and the outer surface part of the lower surface of a cap 4. A baked layer 8b comprising amorphous glass is laminated on the baked layer 8a and baked and formed together with the layer 8a. The element 1 and the cap 4 are sealed with a sealing body 8 comprising the baked layer 8a and the baked layer 8b. |
