The invention relates to new imidazolyl derivatives, their use as curing agents in epoxy-resin compositions, and curable epoxy-resin compositions containing them and composed of an epoxy resin and compounds of the general formula <IMAGE> (I) where R is the group of the alcohol component used to produce the glycidyl ethers, R1 and R2 are, independently of each other, hydrogen, -CH3 or -C2H5, n is 2 or 3, R3 is COOH, -CH, -COHN-NH2, -COOCH2-CH2-OH or COOR4, R4 being an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and m is equal to the valence of R.
