PURPOSE:To provide the polarizing separation element being suitable for mass production and at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:The polarizing separation element constitutes a characteristic feature of hating an optical waveguide 2 in which an incident area A whose difference of an equivalent refractive index to an S polarizing component and a P polarizing component is small, and an emitting area B whose difference is large, an incident grating 3 for allowing light to be made incident on the incident area A, and an emitting grading 4 for emitting a waveguide light propagated from the incident area A to the emitting area B in the different direction by the polarizing element. |
