The apparatus improves the efficiency of carving by editing the data detected by an image detector and the stored data in assistant memory, and by scanning not the entire range but a necessary range using the data stored in memory. It is composed of a working table (1), a image device/laser controller (2), a laser outputter (3), an interface (4), a microprocessor (5) for storing and editing/controlling the image detection data, and an assistant memory device (6) for storing the coordinate data of an image to be carved and supplying the comparison information of the nearest path.
