PURPOSE: To ensure the same synchronizing time for the ratio gears of a multi- ratio transmission and reduce the shift time and effort appreciably by defining self-boost ramps by teeth on a shift flange and varying the angles of these self-boost ramps. CONSTITUTION: An annular shift flange 32 extending radially outward from a shaft 12 moves a first jaw means 30 and a first friction means 38 into engagement with a second jaw means 16b and a second friction means 26 to place a gear 16 into synchronous engagement with the shaft 12. At a neutral position, the head of a plunger 46 is received by a smaller-diameter part 40b of a pin 40 arranged through an opening 32c made in the shift flange 32. The axially spaced side walls of the plunger 46 are designed to slide for preventing the movement of the plunger 46 in the axial directions of the shift flange 32 and to cover end faces 32a and 32b of the shift flange 32. |
