The roller grinder for grinding brittle prods. has two rollers (4,5). These are pressed together with a high pressure and rotate in opposite directions. The ends (4a,4b) of the roller shafts are located in bearing stones (7a,7b,8a,8b). At least one roller (4) is a free roller. This is resiliently pressed against the other roller (5) by its bearings. Each roller (4,5) has a separate driver (11,12) fixedly connected to a drive shaft end of the respective roller (4,5). The drivers (11,12) are at least partly supported by the corresponding bearing. Each driver (11,12) has an electromotor (11,12,11',11''). The rotors (13,23) are fixedly connected to the drive shaft ends of the rollers (4,4',5).
