<p>PURPOSE:To simply preserve a fruit and vegetable in a suitable moisture state to maintain the freshness of the fruit or vegetable, by coating the surface of the fruit or vegetable with a chitosan solution consisting of chitosan, water and an acid. CONSTITUTION:For example, chitosan is swollen with water with stirring, and the swollen mixture is mixed with malic acid and further with water to prepare a chitosan solution. The chitosan is sprayed on the surface of a fruit, vegetable, etc., to perform a freshness-retaining treatment. The chitosan solution may be compounded with an ethylene-absorbing agent and an adhesive.</p> |
