PURPOSE:To prevent electric discharge from being concentrated on adjacent edges between electrodes and dielectric layers from being sputtered, and prevent a phosphor from being spattered by an ion and being deteriorated by serving a side surface of a holding electrode as a discharging portion, and applying a voltage to a transparent electrode so as to hold the phosphor at a high potential. CONSTITUTION:A write electrode 13 covered with a dielectric layer 16 is mounted on a back face glass substrate 12. Selecting electrodes 15 and holding electrodes 14 raised in a predetermined thickness are disposed on the dielectric layer 16, to be covered with another dielectric layer 17. A partition wall 19 is interposed between the selecting electrodes 15. A transparent electrode 20 is superposed on a front glass substrate 11, and further, a phosphor 18 is mounted on the electrode 20. The front glass substrate 11 is disposed opposite to the back glass substrate 12 with a clearance required for electric discharge, followed by air-tight sealing, and then, noble gas is sealed inside. |
