<p>PURPOSE:To solve a problem of occurrence of after-image at a moving picture part by detecting only a true motion signal from an input video signal with noise or flicker superimposed thereon with high accuracy, suppressing the after- image even in a comparatively small motion signal small, different from a conventional noise reducing device, in which noise is reduced by utilizing only the statistic property that as an inter-frame difference signal is smaller, it is highly possible that the signal is noise and as the difference is larger, it is possible that the signal is a motion component, resulting in causing after-image in the moving picture part. CONSTITUTION:A motion detection circuit 106 discriminates each picture element of an input video signal 101 to be any of the still mode, the moving picture mode and the moving still transient mode. Since different noise reduction is implemented for each mode, k the motion detection circuit 106 controls adaptively a nonlinear circuit 109 depending on the discriminated mode.</p> |
