PURPOSE:To provide high brightness in the whole light emitting surface by applying a material having a high light diffuse reflectance onto the surface opposite to a light source of a reflecting plate covering the linear light source and/or the surface of a light diffuse reflecting plate. CONSTITUTION:As a light guide plate 1, quartz, glass or a light permeable natural or synthetic resin, for example, an acrylic resin, which efficiently transmits light, is used. The light emitted from the light guide plate 1 surface is scattered and transmitted by a light diffusing plate 2. As a light scattering material 6 applied onto the light guide plate 1, a coating material or printing ink having a high refractive index, compared with the material of the light guide plate 1, and containing a pigment having a large diffuse reflectance is used. This is printed on the light guide plate 1 surface in dot form in a thickness of 30-150mum by means of screen printing. Further, a light diffuse reflecting plate 3 is formed of a material such as aluminum or sheet steel, and covers almost the whole surface of the face of the light guide plate 1 covered with the light scattering material. The circumference of a linear light source 4 is covered with a reflecting plate 5 having a clearance for entering of the light to the end surface of the light guide plate 1. |
