PURPOSE:To display the accurate vehicle position even at the time of judging that the vehicle is deviated from a road. CONSTITUTION:The vehicle locus form obtained from the vehicle detection position in accordance with the running of the vehicle and the road form obtained from map information are compared with each other to calculate the degree of form alignment and the extent of correction for coincidence between the detection position and a verification point is obtained, and the calculated degree of form alignment and the extent of correction are stored in a storage buffer (step 500). If it is decided that the vehicle is deviated from the road (step 550), a point where the degree of form alignment is maximum is obtained from the storage buffer (step 600), and the vehicle position from the point where the degree of form alignment is maximum is displayed on the extent of correction corresponding to this point (step 750). |
