Apparatus for measuring chemical and/or physical reaction sequences by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometry comprises a reaction chamber 10, an NMR spectrometer 2 and a measurement cell 90 in the bore of the spectrometer magnet 2a. The reaction chamber is situated very close to the magnet 2a to maximise the premagnetisation of the reaction product, and may be mounted on a mounting angle (29, figure 3) on a sample head housing on the magnet 2a. Means are provided for carrying out the NMR measurement after an adjustable period of time relative to the start of a reaction in the reaction chamber, and for a predetermined length of time. <IMAGE> |
