PURPOSE:To provide a mass spectrometer having high resolution of ions with high mass number. CONSTITUTION:Parallel flat electrodes are opposed to each other and one is set to be a high potential electrode 1 and the other to be a low potential electrode 2. A magnetic field parallel to the electrode plane is applied to the electrodes. There is an open part in the high potential electrode and an non, while its speed is reduced, comes unto the magnetic field from the open part of the high potential electrode. The ion draws a cycloid curve in the magnetic field and returns to the open part of the high potential electrode 1. Since the length along the line of the cycloid curve is in proportion to the mass number, resolution of the ion with high mass number becomes high. |
