PURPOSE:To uniform the discharge capacity of a battery and also enhance the life performance of the battery by holding the temperature of paste within the range of 25 to 35 deg.C process from the start of kneading to packing. CONSTITUTION:During processes from kneading to packing, the temperature of a paste is controlled by means of installation of a water jacket around a device or by other means. However, heat is generated through oxidation of metals and a reaction of lead powder with sulfuric acid during kneading and so the lead powder, water, the sulfuric acid and an additive may be cooled before kneading correspondingly to the quantity of generated heat in order to effect the kneading. The packed state of the paste is varied with the base temperature for kneading as shown in Figure. The amount by which the paste is packed can be uniformed by holding paste temperature in process from the start of kneading to packing at 25-35 deg.C. The amount of the paste packed in a grid is thus stabilized so as to uniform battery capacity and also to extend the life performance of the battery. |
