<p>A toothed wheel (3) to control the gripper straps in shuttleless looms is obtained by injection molding of thermoplastic material. To increase wear resistance of the wheel toothing (1), a strip (2) of thermosetting material - reinforced with carbon or cotton fibres - is introduced into the mold during the molding operation, said strip (2) having a fretted section reproducing the final profile of said toothing (1). The strip (2) is pre-manufactured in a flat position and of length sufficient to cover the full circumference of the toothed wheel (3). It then remains firmly positioned into the mold, once it has been elastically deformed into a circle to be introduced therein.
