PURPOSE:To eliminate the occurrence of flicker and the deterioration in moving resolution being problems in the case of interlace scanning without giving a burden to a driving circuit in a plasma addressed liquid crystal display device (PALC). CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal cell and a substrate are arranged opposite to each other at a prescribed interval and an ionizable gas is sealed in a space between the liquid crystal cell and the substrate to form a discharge area. A discharge electrode pair to generate a discharge plasma is provided to the substrate and a discharge plasma generated in the vicinity of each discharge electrode corresponds to a scanning line, and in the case of the n:1 interlace scanning, the width of the discharge plasma is set so as to be n-sets of scanning units. |
