PURPOSE:To protect a piezoelectric laminate against stress, e.g. tension, at the time of operation of an ultrasonic motor. CONSTITUTION:A composite oscillator 40 comprises a resonant resilient body 41, a pinching member 2 and a piezoelectric laminate 11. The pinching member 22 has U-shaped cross-section and the piezoelectric laminate 11 is held between two arms thereof while pressure contacting therewith. The pressure contacting direction is aligned with the laminating direction of the piezoelectric laminate 11. Consequently, pressure contacting force is exerted continuously onto the piezoelectric laminate 11 in the laminating direction and no tensile stress is applied thereon. According to the constitution, the piezoelectric laminate 11 is not exfoliated even if an ultrasonic motor is subjected to external force during operation. |
