In the manufacture of bags from a web 10, e.g. of paper, transverse cuts 13 having curved ends 14 are formed at the position of attachment of the handles 16 so that the handles project across the cuts, the web is tubed, perforations 18 are made to intersect the curved ends 14 and complete the cuts across the web so that on tensioning the web the bag links may be severed without any longitudinal tears at the junction 19 of the perforations 18 and the curved ends 14 of the cuts 13. The tubed web is stuck by tab 12, and the handles stuck via patches 17. |
