PURPOSE:To charge and discharge the load speedily by varying the voltage across the capacitive load with a 1st current value and then driving the capacitive load with a 2nd current value which is larger than the 1st current value. CONSTITUTION:The capacitive load CL is charged to a high voltage and when this load is discharged through a transistor Trn, a switching element SE is OFF at this time. When the transistor Trn is turned ON through a logic circuit A and a transistor MP in this state, the load CL is discharged with a collector current Ic passed through a resistance RE, but the current value Ic is set within the safety operation area(ASO) of the transistor Trn. Then when the terminal voltage across the load CL drops, the switching element SE is controlled into the ON state. Thus, the capacitive load CL is driven with the maximum collector current which is permitted in the ASO range of the transistor Trn in any voltage range.
