810,157. Regulating switches. JANSEN, B. Jan. 1, 1957 [Jan. 7, 1956], No. 74/57. Class 38(5). A switch, suitable for transformer tapchanging, comprises a plurality of fixed contacts 31 ... 34 on the inner surface of a cylindrical insulator 28, a rotatable shaft 40 concentric therewith, and a plurality of sector-shaped contact carriers eccentrically pivoted at 73 to the shaft, the movable contacts 75 ... 78 carried thereby being radially movable with respect to the axes 73. Each carrier comprises end plates 70, 71 having gear teeth 72 meshing with teeth 44 on the inside of member 28, and an intermediate insulating member 68 having slots 66 in which contacts 75 ... 78 are slidable. The contacts are carried by arms 55 ... 58 connected by a spindle 54 urged outwards by springs 50 arranged in housings 48 serving as bearings for parts 52, 53 on spindle 54. Rotation of shaft 40 thus rocks each carrier simultaneously and the contacts are changed over from one end position in which, e.g. contacts 31, 75 are engaged to the other end position with contacts 34, 78 closed. In a modification (Figs. 5, 6, not shown), each contact arm engages simultaneously two axially-spaced contacts, and alter-, nate arms are connected to separate spindles as 54, separately acted on by springs. The radial movement of the arms is guided by intervening rollers. |
