PURPOSE:To recover the mistranslation of an original sentence and also to easily understand a mechanically translated sentence in a mechanical translation system by fractionating the original sentence into phrases based on a hierarchical phrase recognition rule and translating mechanically these phrases. CONSTITUTION:A hierachical phrase recognition rule 3 is obtained by transforming the rule which decides the punctuations of phrases of an original sentence into e hierarchical structure. If the mechanical translation of the original sentence is impossible, the first hierarchical rule of the rule 3 is applied to fractionate the original sentence into phrases. The original sentence is mechanically translated for each phrase. Then the next hierarchical rule is applied for the phrases that could not be mechanically translated. Then the original sentence is fractionated into phrases and mechanically and repetitively translated for each phrase. Thus, the translated sentences are outputted in parallel with each other. |
