PURPOSE:To readily produce 3-cyano-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexanone useful as a raw material for epoxy curing agent, urethane coating material, etc., from isophorone and prussic acid. CONSTITUTION:Isophorone is reacted with prussic acid in the presence of a guanidine to produce 3-cyano-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexanone. The amount of the guanidine used is about 0.01-0.5mol based on 1mol isophorone. |
