PREVENTING UNAUTHORIZED USE OF AN OPHTHALMOLOGICAL SURGERY SYSTEM

A method of preventing unauthorized use of an ophthalmological surgery system is disclosed. A data carrier that is independent from the system contains predetermined enabling information to allow the surgery to be performed. The data carrier may contain patient information such as which of the eyes of the patient should be operated on, an authorized identity of a surgeon authorized to operate the system. The system is then enabled to perform the surgery if the predetermined enabling information is accepted.
