The process for manufacturing interior linings of motor vehicles with a skin of polyurethane material and a glass fibre-reinforced polyurethane backing, which are jointly back-foamed in a mould, operates in such a manner that first the backing (4) is separately manufactured from a glass-fibre mat, which is cut with exact contour and dimensions in relation to the finished interior lining, by impregnating with polyurethane material, with a projecting edge zone (6) only of this polyurethane material. The skin (12) is then laid in the lower mould (11) with an edge (15) projecting in the parting plane (16). Subsequently the separately manufactured polyurethane backing is laid in the upper mould, with the edge zone manufactured only from polyurethane material being in the parting plane. Back-foaming of backing and skin is carried out by filling the polyurethane material into the open mould. The mould is closed, the edge zone (6) of the separately manufactured backing in the parting plane (16) forming a seal in contact with the skin. Subsequently the moulding is removed after opening of the mould. If work is carried out in a closed mould, the mould is naturally first closed and then the polyurethane material filled into the closed mould. The edge zone, which consists only of polyurethane material, is cut off from the final product, so that waste only of polyurethane material results, which can be recycled. At the same time, during back-foaming the edge zone forms a seal, which prevents polyurethane material passing onto the outer surface of the skin during back-foaming. <IMAGE> |
