OPTICAL-FIBER COMMUNICATION NETWORK

PURPOSE: To provide an optical fiber communication network where access is performed to an optical fiber without diverting power from the optical fiber and, in addition to it, an equipment is facilitated in a station which is linked to the optical fiber so as to execute a prescribed function as soon as a transmitted instruction is received. CONSTITUTION: The network is characterized by providing a light source 1 linked to one end of the optical fiber 3 and some light receiving equipments for detecting light scattered on the side surface of the optical fiber and by the sufficient sensitivity of the respective light receiving equipments to such a degree that only light which is lost by the basic scattering of the optical fiber is required while light emitted from the light source passes through the neighborhood of the light receiving equipments during normal propagation for reliable communication.
