PURPOSE:To provide a material having excellent gas permeability over a long period without causing a wet lung and suitable to gas exchange membrane of an artificial heart-lung device by treating a specified polyurethane or polyurethane urea with a heparin. CONSTITUTION:A polyether polyol having a hydroxyl group or amino group reactable with a diisocyanate or isocyanate group at the molecular terminal, and, if necessary, other polyamines or polyols are mutually reacted to provide a polyurethane or polyurethane urea. A part or all of the ternary amino groups contained in such polyurethane or polyurethane urea are made into quaternary salts by use of a halogenated alkyl or active ester. Thereafter, heparin treatment is conducted by use of a mixed solvent of a water-soluble organic solvent and water to provide a desired gas permeable material excellent in blood adaptability. |
