EXPANDED GRAPHITE BRAIDED BODY AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a braided body having excellent heat resistance and durability and suitable for ground packing and gasket by using a yarn obtained by superposing and rolling slit yarn of expanded graphite film and linear core material and then twisting the resultant single yarns. CONSTITUTION:A slit yarn obtained by cutting an expanded graphite film and core material consisting of single wire or plane wire of metal shell such as stainless steel, Inconel, Monel, etc., organic material such as aramid or inorganic material such as asbestos or glass are superposed and rolled to provide a single yarn having the core material embedded in the above-mentioned slit yarn. Then the singly yarn is twisted or plurality of single yarns are twisted to form twisted knitting yarn and then knitted into braided body having prescribed knit structure.
