This invention provides a humidity regulating apparatus that is used in, for example, a magnetic disk device, and that regulates the humidity inside a semi-sealed container that possesses permeability with the outside air, and wherein the opening provided in the semi-sealed container is sealed by a humidity regulating element comprising a hydrogen ion conductor comprising a solid electrolyte and porous film-like first and second electrodes that are bonded, respectively, to the surfaces of both sides of hydrogen ion conductor thereof, and wherein DC voltage is impressed across both electrodes.
