METHOD FOR FIXING MECHANICAL PART AND DEVICE FOR TESTING PIN ENGAGING STRENGTH

PURPOSE: To secure reliable insertion of connecting pins up to a desired depth when securing machine parts and to facilitate fitting strength testing of the connecting pins. CONSTITUTION: A pin 20 for securing machine parts to an assembly forms interference fit with passages formed in the parts, and its ends are flush with two opposed surfaces of the assembly. The pin 20 is provided with a groove 22 spaced from one end of the pin by a distance equal to the distance between the opposed surfaces. A washer 28 is seated in the groove 22, and the pin 20 is guided into the passage so that the washer 28 is allowed to abut to one of the opposed faces. The fitting strength testing device for the pin is engaged with the groove 22 to apply tension testing force before bending off a pin projecting end or is allowed to abut to the end of a remaining part of the pin in the passage and applies compression testing force after bending off.
