Spherical EM transponder to identify unsold garments and prevent theft - is applied to garment by evacuating inner volume of sphere and removed by releasing vacuum

The transponder housing consists of two hemispherical cups (3, 4) which are placed on opposite sides of a piece (1) of the garment. The cups have interlocking flanges and seals (7, 8, 9). The upper cup has a horizontally mounted inductive coil (10) and the lower has a vertically mounted coil (11). The assembled sphere is placed in a machine which exhausts the air inside the sphere and seals the exhaust hole. When a purchaser has completed the transaction, the sphere is reintroduced to the machine and a strong external electromagnet breaks the vacuum by attracting and internal magnetic plate (19), distorting the upper cup and allowing air past the seals.
