The invention relates to an automatic length-compensating device (1) for a cable-type remote control. It comprises: . an approximately cylindrical hollow body (10) of axis (11) and with interior reliefs (12), . a cap (13) for attaching to the hollow body (10) on the one hand and to one of the parts (2) of the sheath on the other hand, . a cone (14) attached to the second part (3) of the sheath and placed in the interior of the body (10) on a common axis with the axis of the hollow body (10) and with its apex (15) pointing towards the first part (2) of the sheath, . a spring (16) acting at one end on the hollow body (10) and at the other end on the second part (3) of the sheath, tending to push the two parts of the sheath away from each other, and . an arresting cage (17) comprising immobilising elements (18, 19) regularly distributed between the hollow body (10) and the cone (14), complementary in shapes and dimensions to the interior reliefs (12) of the hollow cylinder and of the outer surface (20) of the cone (14) so as to immobilise the cone (14) with respect to the hollow body (10) when the parts (2, 3) of the sheath experience a force that would tend to bring them together. According to the invention, the interior reliefs (12) of the hollow body (10) consist of helical slopes (21), the immobilising elements (18, 19) possess complementary reliefs (22) on their outer surfaces and the arresting cage (17) is free to rotate with respect to the cone (14). <IMAGE> |
