PURPOSE:To constitute a light emitting diode in which light from a peripheral junction of an ingress diffused part 18A run around from an opening 14A of a diffused mask layer 14 to be laterally extended, is efficiently emitted to an external field. CONSTITUTION:A diffused mask layer 14 and a surface protective layer 16 are so set in its refractive index and thickness as to satisfy nonreflection conditions. More particularly, the layer 16 is so set as to satisfy n1<2>=n0.n3 and that the n1.d1 becomes odd number times of lambda/4. The layer 14 is so set as to satisfy n2=n1 and that n2.d2 becomes even number times of lambda/4. |
