PURPOSE:To reduce the generation frequency of misdecision caused by a conventional bill discriminating method for deciding the validity/invalidity of a bill by detecting its thickness which may misdecide a bill folded at its coner not to be decided as an illegal bill. CONSTITUTION:A 1st inspection for inspecting whether abnormality in thickness is present on a bill 2 or not and a 2nd inspection for inspecting whether a light transmission excessively and suddenly changing state in which a low light transmittance part which is specific in the corner-folded state of the bill 2 and a high light transmittance part are adjacent with each other is present on the bill 2 or not are executed, and when abnormality is detected as the result of the 1st inspection, whether the abnormality is caused by coner folding or not is checked by the result of the 2nd inspection. |
