<p>PURPOSE:To reduce considerably a frame memory capacity by applying nonlinear conversion to one-frame difference, delaying the nonlinear conversion signal further by one frame and calculating the movement proportional to the frame difference. CONSTITUTION:A digital picture signal inputted from a terminal 1 is delayed by one frame at a frame memory 2 and a subtractor 3 calculates one frame difference. The difference includes both movement information of a moving picture and a 1/2fF component of a still picture. When a number is given to each frame of the picture signal and a data F2 is a current frame data, a data F1 indicates a data of one preceding frame and a data F2 depicts a data in two-preceding frame. In this case, an output of the subtractor 3 is expressed as F1-F0, and let a conversion characteristic of a nonlinear converter 4 be g(X), then an output of the frame memory 2 is expressed as g(F1-F0) and an output of the frame memory 5 is expressed as g(F2-F1). Then an output D of a lookup table 6 is expressed in equation thereby saving considerably the capacity of the frame memory.</p> |
